Women In Cinema is an official University of Texas at Austin Student Organization founded in late 2010 by Kat Candler. Women in Cinema provides a support system for student filmmakers at all levels of experience and also aims to provide students with the knowledge, tools and connections that will better enable them to create successful films and careers.

In an effort to accomplish the mission, Women In Cinema...
  • Holds a monthly panel of INDUSTRY PROFESSIONAL GUEST SPEAKERS.
  • Holds a CAMERA / LIGHTING / SOUND WORKSHOP at the beginning of each semester.
  • Offers a MENTORSHIP PROGRAM where lower division students are paired with upper division students and upper division students are paired with film professionals from the community.
  • Produces a SHORT FILM each summer.
  • Offers FIELD TRIPS to local screenings and production companies
  • Sends out an email NEWSLETTER every week that includes film opportunities, local events and more.
